Chapramari - Wildlife Sanctuary

Chapramari is the smallest sanctuary in Dooars. The size of the sanctuary however has not constrained to shelter the varied species of wildlife. The dense forests of Chapramari on the National Highway 31 near Chalsa provides natural habitat for Asiatic elephant and Indian bison. Other major species include spotted deer, leopard, wild boar, Sambar, leopard cat apart from innumerable species of birds and smaller mammals. The natural pool inside the sanctuary attracts wild animals in the evening. The picturesque forest bungalow overlooking the pool is the best place to view the animals coming to drink water. 

Although day visit in Chapramari for wildlife viewing is organized from Lataguri, an overnight stay inside the sanctuary can be a thrilling experience.
